Cosmological expansion histories: A graphical approach

I will discuss how possible expansion histories of the universe can be
inferred in a simple way, for arbitrary energy contents as well as
bimetric generalizations of gravity.  The expansion can be inferred
qualitatively, by picturing the scale factor - or ratio of the scale
factors of the two metrics - as the spatial coordinate of a particle
rolling along a frictionless track.
