New PhD student: Harald Thommesen
I grew up in Graz (Austria) where I did my Bachelor degree in Technical Physics and following that my Master degree in Space Sciences. During my master thesis I was dealing with Galactic and Solar Cosmic Radiation and its effects on Earth’s atmosphere. Since my main scientific interests lie in the field of astrophysics and cosmology, I was very happy to be given the opportunity to do my PhD here at ITA in Oslo. At the moment I am being trained to perform CMB component separation using Planck data. In the future however, I will shift my focus to a newer project called SPIDER, which is a state-of-the-art balloon-born CMB polarization telescope.
