Fredagskollokvium: New insights into cluster astrophysics from the cosmic microwave background bispectrum

William Coulton, Princeton

Most secondary sources of cosmic microwave background anisotropy (radio sources, dusty galaxies, thermal Sunyaev Zeldovich distortions from hot gas and lensing- induced anisotropies) are highly non-Gaussian, and thus higher point statistics are important for probing the physics of these processes. I will present our investigation into the bispectrum of these secondary sources with the Atacama Cosmology Telescope and the Planck satellite. This work demonstrates the first step in utilizing the information in the bispectrum to constrain astrophysics and cosmology. In the second part of my talk I will discuss how the utility of the bispectrum will rapidly improve with future data from Advanced ACT, SPT-3G, Simons Observatory and CMB-S4.
