Emanuela Di Martino

Academic interests

I am a paleontologist and a bryozoan systematist with a special focus on tropical Cenozoic bryozoan diversity. I got my PhD from Utrecht University in 2014, although I was mainly based at the Department of Earth Sciences of the Natural History Museum in London. My thesis describes the diversity of Bryozoa in the Miocene of East Kalimantan (Borneo, Indonesia). It is part of the Marie Curie project Throughflow, which aimed to investigate the evolutionary origin(s) of the marine hotspot of diversity in the Indo West Pacific. I joined CEES in January 2015 to collaborate with the Bryozoan Lab for Ecology, Evolution and Development (BLEED) on a project that investigates how competitive interactions among encrusting bryozoans might contribute to survival and evolution.
