The Speciation Journal Club

In this journal club we will be discussing papers focusing on processes driving biological diversification, with particular emphasis on population divergence, isolating mechanisms, introgression, hybrid zone dynamics or even local adaptation. We intend to examine studies using a variety of approaches, ranging from experimental evolution and quantitative genetics to comparative phylogenetics and population genomics, so we hope it will be of interest to many of you. There will also be the opportunity for presenting data and discussing analytical issues, if needed.

Please subscribe to the mailing list to receive updates on upcoming topics and to initiate discussions with others on the list.

The Speciation Journal Club is an initiative of the Sparrow Group, currently being organized by Fabrice Eroukhmanoff, and is scheduled to run weekly on Thursdays at 13:00 in the Aquarium, third floor in Kristine Bonnevies hus.

Time and place: Dec. 14, 2017 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, The Aquarium

This Thursday, there will be no Speciation Journal Club, instead, we all welcome you to a full day of hybridization and speciation!  A symposium supported by IBV, CEES and EVOGENE.

The symposium will feature two prominent young researchers in the field, Joana Meier (University of Bern, Switzerland) & Mario Vallejo-Marin (University of Stirling, UK). We have previously discussed some of their papers at the Speciation Journal Club, but they will also discuss some of their latest unpublished research.

If you wish to meet with Joana or Mario on friday, please contact me or one of the other organizers.
