New face: Sergey Matveev

From Russia

Sergey received his Specialist’s degree in Mathematics and System Programming from Lomonosov Moscow State University. As a research student he worked in Marchuk Institute of Numerical Mathematics RAS on elaboration and analysis of new fast numerical methods solving multidimensional Smoluchowski coagulation equation under guidance of prof. Eugene Tyrtyshnikov. In addition, he participated in elaboration of novel semiclassical Monte-Carlo methods modelling the non-adiabatic molecular dynamics at T-division and CNLS of Los Alamos National Laboratory under guidance of Dmitry Mozyrsky in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

In 2015 Sergey continued work under guidance of prof. Tyrtyshnikov as phD-student at Lomonosov State University and joined in 2016 joined Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Mathematical Modelling of Soil Systems as a part-time junior research associate on behalf of long-term collaboration with Nadezda Vasylieva.

In 2015-2016 Sergey also worked at Skoltech University as part-time junior research scientist at the Center for Electrochemical Energy Storage working on elaboration of efficient computational tools for the molecular modelling. In addition to research and programming duties Sergey has also helped to establish new computing cluster for CEE and optimize use of the existing computing facilities. Summarizing these acitivies he established 224-CPU-core computing cluster and several high-performance computing servers. Since 2017 Sergey continues his work at Skoltech as a member of group of Prof. Ivan Oseledets on research project devoted to monitoring of soil fertility factors and the analysis of the transformation of soil organic matter.

At CEES Sergey will work on analysis and development of Atlantic cod population model in collaboration with Anna-Marie Winter.
