ICSASG (completed)

International Cooperation Project to Sequence the Atlantic Salmon Genome

About the project

The International Collaboration to Sequence the Atlantic Salmon Genome (ICSASG) will produce a genome sequence that identifies and physically maps all genes in the Atlantic salmon genome and acts as a reference sequence for other salmonids.

The University of Oslo (UiO) will assist The J. Craig Venter Institute by sequencing genomic DNA from the Atlantic salmon specimen known as Sally. UiO will generate sequence using its own Pacific Biosciences RS sequencing machine.

Collaborators

Project Coordinator: J. Craig Venter Institute, JCVI.

Financing

This project is funded by The Research Council of Norway, The Norwegian Fishery and Aquaculture Industry Research Fund, Genome British Columbia, The Chilean Economic Development Agency and InnovaChile.
