MN PhD survey

A 2018 survey among MN PhD alumni (199 respondents) shows that 59% landed their first job within R&D. Of all respondents,

  • 57% work in the public sector
  • 41% work in the private sector
  • 3% work in interest organisations

Research as a generic skills

Your doctoral education provides you with training in generic skills such as analytical and critical thinking, communication and more. The 2018 survey showed that candidates wished for better training in

  • mapping their competencies (66%)
  • communicating their competencies (55%)
