Physical Volcanology and Volcanic Textures: “Black and orange, scary, deadly?”

Seminar by Tobias Schmiedel (PhD candidate at PGP)

What do think when I say: “Black and orange, scary, deadly?” – “Volcanoes!”

If you thought “Halloween!...,hmm ok” you are not that far off. It is time for a Halloween-lunch seminar. Tobias Schmiedel (PhD candidate at PGP) will introduce you to some of the physics of volcanic eruptions. And he will show the beauty of volcanic landforms, from all around the world to the suburbs of Oslo. Tobias’ presentation is part of his special syllabus and will be based on a short course he took in Germany: “Physical Volcanology and Volcanic Textures”. The presentation will be accompanied by experiments, rocks and a quiz. Come over, have lunch and enjoy learning something!
