Abstract

Dr. Anke Weidenkaff is the Head of Solid State Chemistry and Catalysis at EMPA, Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material Science and Technology, Switzerland. She is also Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Bern.

She is one of the leading scientists in the field of thermoelectric materials for energy conversion and storage, such as heat recovery in a vehicle, high temperature thermoelectric solar electricity generator, exhaust gas catalysis.

This talk will discuss the principles of thermoelectricity and the development of novel perovskite-type oxides and oxynitrides, half-Heusler compounds and nano-composite materials.
