The position as PhD Research Fellowship in Plasma Physics and Technology is available at the Department of Physics. This project is related to studies of the dynamics of the large-scale currents (Birkeland currents) that couple the outer magnetosphere to the upper atmosphere (ionosphere). Application deadline 18. April 2017.

After its long and exciting mission, Rosetta spacecraft has landed on the comet 67P.
In the September students from Kobe University arrived in Oslo to study the interaction between the spacecraft and plasma together with students from UiO.

4DSpace has a long-term successful collaboration with Canadian universities. In early October, seven students from UiO visited the University of Calgary.
In the end of September seven master students from Kobe University arrived in Oslo to study the interaction between the rocket and ionospheric plasma together with students from UiO.
At the Space Expo at Youngstorget, Oslo (28.08-06.09) we gave three popular-science talks presenting our research. There were a lot of visitors and a successful event!
4DSpace is involved in the European Space Expo that will visit Oslo from 28 August to 6 September. We are planning to give three talks presenting research on space and the polar ionosphere.
We are happy to share that within the last two weeks we had two invited talks at prestigious meetings XXXII ICPIG and AOGS2015, and won the poster prize!
Our project with the Institute for Space Research (IKI) of Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, Russia, has been granted!

Seven master and PhD students from University of Oslo traveled as far as to Kobe in Japan to study the interaction between the rocket and the ionospheric plasma together with their Japanese colleagues.
Two PhD positions are available within 4DSpace Strategic Research Initiative. The two positions have the same deadline for applications: 13 April 2015.
