ESA projects

The Department of Physics is a member of the ESA prosjects Cluster, Rosetta og Bepi-Colombo.

Cluster is a set of four satellites investigating the Earth's Magnetosphere.

The Cluster satellites were launced in 2000 and will operate until 2015.

Rosetta is heading for the Comet 67 P/Churyumov- Gerasimenko and will reach the comet in 2014.

BepiColombo is two satellites that is going to investigate Mercury.
They will be launced in 2015 and reach the planet in 2022.

The Department of Physics has delivered and will deliver test equipment for instruments on these satellites.

We are also involved in analyzing data from the Cluster mission, and research efforts are directed towards magnetospheric boundary layer studies.
