Seminar on Permafrost and Climate
Section for Geography and Hydrology invites all interested to a seminar about how changes in climate affect permafrost in Alaska, Norway and Svalbard.
There will also be a presentation of new research projects related to permafrost at the Department of Geosciences.
Time and Place: Tuesday April 5th, SALEN, in the ZEB-building, Blindern (map).

9.25 – 9.30: Welcome and introduction

9.30 – 10.05: Permafrost and climate change in Alaska – observations and modeling
- Prof. V. Romanovsky, University of Alaska Fairbanks, Vice President of IPA
10.05 – 10.40: New research projects on permafrost at the University of Oslo
- Dr. S. Westermann, Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo
10.40 – 11.15: Permafrost monitoring and climate change in Norway and Svalbard
- Dr. K. Isaksen, Norwegian Meteorological Institute, National GTN-P responsible.
After the programme it will be open up for discussions.
The seminar will end at 11.30.
