From most borehole sites we now have continuous measurements of air and ground temperatures, as well as snow cover conditions since August 2008.

Example of air and ground temperatures from Juvvass BH1 (1861 m a.s.l.). This site reveals an active layer of ~1.5 m. Note that the winter wave goes deeper during the 2008-2009 winter than the 2009-2010 winter although winter air temperatures are lower the second winter. The explanation is the thicker snow cover during the 2009-2010 winter, thereby isolating the ground surface from the low air temperature.
