Academic interests

I am interested in the many evolutionary transitions from single-celled to colonial- and multicellular organisms among eukaryotes. I am particularly interested in the evolution of complex multicellularity that led to the emergence of animals. My research focuses on the evolution of microRNA and other non-coding RNAs and their role in the transition from unicellular choanozoans ancestors to animals.
