Jonfinn Blix Knutsen
I am interested in the interaction between genotype and phenotype, and how evolution shapes this relationship. I have mainly worked with this topic in plants. For my master thesis I investigated the conservation of the IDA/HAE-HSL2 signalling pathway in the crop species Brassica rapa, with a goal of using existing knowledge from model systems (Arabidopsis thaliana) in a broader context. I did the work for my master thesis in the lab of Professor Reidunn B. Aalen.
I have now started as a Ph. D. candidate on a project under the supervision of Professor Kjetill Jakobsen and Associate Professor Melinka Butenko. During this project I will investigate the functional and evolutionary role of simple nucleotide repeats in the genomes of plants and fish.
