Experimental animals are necessary in the biological sciences, and the task of the animal facility is to ensure that they are well taken care of.
The animal facility of IBV went through an extensive renewal in 2010 and now emerges as a modern and well equipped facility.
It contains two sections:
The TERRA-unit and the H2O-unit.
Among the species that are kept in the TERRA-unit are various mice strains and various types of laboratory rats. We also have a group of chickens living in the outdoor part of the TERRA-unit.
The aquariums in the H2O-unit are housing currently stickleback, eel, cod, crucian carp, various salmoide and frogs.
As well as the popular model organisms zebrafish and medaka.
