Section for Aquatic Biology and Toxicology (AQUA)

The section for Aquatic biology and toxicology focuses on freshwater and marine ecosystems, with the research in toxicology also including terrestrial systems and the teaching human toxicology. The research in the section aims at providing knowledge and understanding of organisms and processes from molecular and cellular scale to the population and ecosystem level and how organisms and ecosystems are affected by various forms of pollution and other human impact. We address benthic algae, phytoplankton, zooplankton and fish, including taxonomy, ecology, behavior and interactions through food chains. The research is carried out both locally and internationally, spanning habitats from the Arctic to Antarctica, as well as tropical waters.

Web pages for the research section are under construction. Questions can be directed to the section leader.
