Communication and coordination in software teams
Slack (slack.com) is a communication tool that is often being used in software teams. This thesis will involve analysing conversations in Slack channels between team members in co-located and globally distributed teams. What kind of information is discussed? How is the interaction behaviour and performance shaped over time? How does the virtual discussions affect team awareness and workspace awareness?
The purpose of the study will be to examine team interaction in agile software teams, mainly by doing conversation analysis. Interviewing relevant team members for a deeper understanding of the coordination and communication practices is also a possibility.
The thesis will be conducted in collaboration with Sintef and DNV GL.
