Anders Hansen: Short course on Compressed Sensing - I

These are the first two of six 45-min. lectures given by Anders Hansen (Cambridge Univ. and UiO) on Compressed sensing - Theory and Applications.
Compressed Sensing is one of the most exciting areas of mathematics nowadays. It suggests that it is possible to surpass the limits of traditional sampling theory by exploiting the sparsity of many signals in some suitable basis. The lectures are aimed for non-specialists and a diversity of applications will be discussed. Anders Hansen is Head of the group in Applied Functional and Harmonic Analysis within the Cambridge Centre of Analysis at DAMTP. He has recently been appointed as Prof. II at the Institute of Mathematics, UiO.
