Many outdoor radio systems transmit and receive signals that are sensitive to the climatic conditions, such as hydrometeor precipitation. For example, high frequencies may be heavily attenuated under periods of rain. According to climate reports the trend is towards more severe storms with heavy rainfall. An initial study of rainfall rate data from Norway supports the view that there is more often intense rainfall several places in the country.

Data storage solutions at the Department of Geosciences.

Many MSc students in geosciences have data stored on central servers at the department, UiO or NorStore. When they are finished, what happens with this data? Is it deleted, is it maintained?

Some while ago a student asked us if we were collecting data in the marine ecological group at CEES. We were forced to acknowledge that we were not.  From this follows a real cri de coeur: “but we are only scavengers!” Are we really? If we are, is it all bad?
