I joined CEES in September 2015 as a PhD student working within the project SUSTAIN (Sustainable management of renewable resources in a changing environment: an integrated approach across ecosystems). The main aim of this project is to study combined impacts of environmental changes and harvesting in marine, freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems. Although there are some effects of climate change and human pressures on marine organisms in the Barents Sea, it remains difficult to predict how they will develop in the future. The objectives of my PhD are to investigate potential for predator-prey reversal between two commercially important species in the Barents Sea-Norwegian Sea ecosystem, Northeast Arctic cod (Gadus morhua) and Norwegian Spring Spawning herring (Clupea harengus), and management consequences of shifts in species domination.
I have a Masters Degree in Marine Fishery from the University of Split. Before I joined CEES I was working at the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries in Split (Croatia), at the Laboratory of Fisheries Science and Management of Pelagic and Demersal Resources.
