My interests are in bacterial-bacterial and bacterial-host interactions that help determine microbial community structures and how these structures may eventually impact host-health. My background is in molecular biology, microbiology and microbial ecology. Previous work has included tracking and characterizing E. coli strain dynamics and interactions in a cohort of mothers and their infants. We also performed genome analysis of these isolates in order to understand strain genotype-phenotype links that help determine colonization patterning.
We are currently running the project "Modelling microbial dynamics in the human infant gut" with the Principal Investigator Dr. Pål Trosvik (CEES, Institute of Life Science, UiO). This projects aim is to develop quantitative models of the gut microbial community as a dynamic ecosystem including predictive models of human infant gut bacterial dynamics.
