CEES Board Chair Receives Royal Honours
His Majesty King Harald V has designated Prof. Reidun Sirevåg a Knight, First Class, of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav for her work for Norwegian science.
Reidun was given the honour during a ceremoney at the Norwegian Academy of Science on the 4th of December. The Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav was established by King Oscar I of Norway and Sweden in 1847.
In addition to being a professor at IMBV and the chair of the CEES Board, Prof. Sirevåg was the Academy's general secretary from 2001-2009. She played a crucial roll in the development of the first Abel Prize and later the Kavli Prize. The prizes have helped to raise awareness about the importance of science for all parts of society and given Norway international recognition.
