The new atlantic cod reference genome

Late Lunch Talk by Ole Kristian Tørresen, Lex Nederbragt, with others from the cod genomics team

After the release of the first Atlantic cod reference genome in 2011, researchers at CEES have been working towards an improved version. Combining different datasets and assembly approaches, a drastically improved new assembly has been produced. Most gaps have been closed, and chromosome reconstructions have been made such that the new reference is as good as, or better than, many other fish reference genomes. Together with ELXIR Norway, a genome browser has been set up to allow researchers to explore the genome. During this late lunch talk, the new reference genome will be presented, and the genome browser will be demonstrated. Examples of ongoing research at CEES that now can make use of the new reference genome will be shown.
