My main line if research is in organometallic chemistry in a very broad sense. Experimental activities involve synthesis of ligands and complexes, characterization, structure, reaction mechanisms, development of homogeneous catalysts, and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs).
The experimental activities, often aimed at small-molecule activation, are complemented by computational approaches. In recent years, the organometallic chemistry of GOLD has given the research group great challenges and pleasures, experimentally and computationally.
PhD University of California, Berkeley 1986; postdoc NTH, Trondheim, 1986-88; associate then full professor at University of Oslo, 1989-today. Elected member of The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
Member of Centre of Excellence CTCC, then affiliated member of the Hylleraas Centre for Quantum Molecular Sciences. Ca. 155 peer-reviewed publications. Supervised more than 30 MSc and 25 PhD students, and teaching at all levels in organometallic and organic chemistry and catalysis.
