My competence include a combination of academic research within chemistry, cooperation with industrial partners and leadership in both industry, public sector and politics. I have broad experience in leadership through my positions as Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Director at Simula Research Laboratory and as Vice Mayor for Finance in the City Government in Oslo.
My professional experience include research within petrochemistry and catalysis, materials science and polymer chemistry in both academia and industry. Furthermore, I have worked as leader for a research group delivering research service to national and international industry. I have worked for the Ministry of Trade and Industry which included administration of The Ministry’s activities within the field of research and innovation and policy making within the same field. I also have experience from the management of Simula Research Laboratory (Simula), which is a research company performing basic research, education and innovation in the fields of communication technology, scientific computing and software engineering. In 2007 Simula established a subsidiary, Simula School of Research and Innovation, in collaboration with stake holders from both industry and public sector, with the aim to educate graduate university students within ICT. I held the posistion as director for this company from 2007-2009. In 2009 I was appointed Vice Mayor for Finance and became a Member of The City Government with responsibility for finance. In 2013 I was elected to the Storting, the Norwegian Parliament. For four years I was Member of the Norwegian Parliament, serving as Head of Faction in The Standing Committee on Education, Research and Church Affairs. I represented The Conservative Party, Oslo constituency.
