Who can apply for the Master Class?

The Master Class is aimed at both applicants coming to the MN Faculty (European Fellowships), as well as Global fellows who will return to the Faculty for at least their final year.

MN Faculty offers one year of extra funding for successful applicants to the European Fellowships.

The application deadline for the Master Class is May 21st.


1. European Postdoctoral Fellowships (1-2 years)

  • Open to researchers of any nationality who wish to engage in R&I projects by either coming to Europe from any country in the world or moving within Europe.

2. Global Postdoctoral Fellowships (2-3 years)

  • Open to researchers based in the EU or associated countries who wish to engage in R&I projects with organisations outside EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries. These fellowships require an outgoing phase of maximum 24 months in a non-associated Third Country, and a mandatory 12-month return phase to a host organisation based in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country.

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship - Essential information

  • The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship Call 2021 opens June 22nd (delayed).
  • The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship application submission deadline is October 12th.
  • Information on the outcome of the evaluation: maximum 5 months (approx. mid-February  2022). If the application is successful, the fellowship period can start at the earliest in the spring of 2022 (approx. April/May) or can be delayed up to 12 months.
  • Mobility: For European Fellowships, the researcher must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity in Norway for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the call deadline, unless as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention. Global fellows have to return to Norway (MN Faculty) for at least 1 year following their overseas stay. Find more information in the official Horizon Europe Guide for Applicants.
  • Experience: Applicants must be in possession of PhD at the call deadline, and can have up to 8 years research experience after PhD (with exceptions = career breaks, work outside research, research outside Europe for reintegrating researchers).
  • Funding: Covers salary cost (living and mobility costs) and family costs, if applicable. A secondment period of up to 1/3 of the fellowship duration in another organisation worldwide may be included to boost the impact of the fellowship. In order to encourage inter-sectoral exposure, an incentive of additional 6 months is available for placements in the non-academic sector at the end of the project.
