«Pharmacy History» (2019–)

A survey carried out by the Norwegian Pharmaceutical Historical Society in 2018 showed that teaching of pharmacy history is very limited, throughout the pharmaceutical departments of Norway.  With the project "Pharmaceutical Histories", we hope to contribute to the continued development of Norwegian pharmacies.

The goal is that the various educational departments will provide future pharmacy students with an equal insight in the history and development of pharmacy in Norway. In order to achieve our goal, we have various partners: OsloMet, the University of Bergen, Nord University, NTNU and the Arctic University of Norway.

Relevant material will be adapted and shared with the other educational departments on the teaching portal Canvas commons. In addition, edited videos will be shared on the website of the Norwegian Pharmaceutical History Society. We also want to present the project nationally and internationally.

In 2021, the Foundation for the Promotion of Norwegian Pharmacy allocated funding for this project. We look forward to presenting over 20 pharmacy histories to current and future pharmacists, and others interested in the diverse history of pharmacy.

Save the date! On March 3, the project leader professor Anne Gerd Granås will share a film of pharmacists with long experience who will tell their stories and provide us insights into pharmacy history: https://www.mn.uio.no/farmasi/om/fai-90/filmkveld.html.
