Jonas Rønning will defend his thesis “Topological defects and flows in BECs and Active matter” for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor at the University of Oslo, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

Francesco Pogliano will defend his thesis “Nuclear astrophysics and the Oslo method. A study on experimental and theoretical radiative neutron-capture rates and their role in heavy-element nucleosynthesis” for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor at the University of Oslo, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

Norway has a lower proportion of R&D than our Nordic neighbours and countries we like to compare ourselves to, measured as a percentage of GDP. The proportion of R&D carried out and financed by industry is particularly low. The government aims to do something about this and the goal is for R&D investment in the industry to reach two per cent of GDP by 2030. A strategy to achieve the goal is underway. The goal corresponds to almost a doubling in eight years – how can this be achieved?

Norway  wants become leading in health industry. What does the government's road map for the health industry and the value chains we present at the meeting mean for the work going forward?

The EarthFlows Meeting is an annual event on its 9^th edition, and part of a strategic research initiative for cross-disciplinary research at the University of Oslo, Norway. This year's seminar will be held in Oslo between 14^th and 15^th of June 2023.
