  • Professor of Physics education at the Department of Physics, University of Oslo, since 2014 (previously senior lecturer, then associate professor, in the same department since 1999).
  • Since 2017, 20 % position as professor at the Department of Primary and Secondary Teacher Education, Oslo Metropolitan University
  • PhD from the University of Oslo, Norway, in 1999 in Science Education (title of thesis: “Museums and scientific literacy. The case of an exhibition on radiation and the environment”).
  • Cand. scient degree (corresponding to M. Sc) from the University of Oslo, 1993, in biophysics  (title of thesis: “Induction and repair of DNA damage in UV-irradiated lymphocytes")
  • Studies in physics, geology and history of science, University of Glasgow, 1987-1988

2014 - 2018 With colleagues: Developed and implemented an in-service continued education package in science for secondary School teachers (30 credit points) 

2009-2013 With colleagues: Developed and implemented an in-service continued education package in physics for upper secondary teachers (60 credit points)  

2003 –  With colleagues: Developed and implemented/taught two physics/science courses in the science teacher education programme at the University of Oslo: “Science in practice” (10 credit points) and “Experiments in physics teaching” (10 credit points)

2005-2008 With colleagues: Developed and implemented two web-based in-service courses for lower secondary science teachers (“Astronomy” and “Electricity”)

1994 -              Contributed in various in-service courses for teachers (primary through upper secondary school) at the University of Oslo and elsewhere 

1991 -              Popular science lectures and outreach aimed at visiting pupils/students at the University of Oslo. Guest lectures at upper secondary schools.
