Academic interests
I have spent the last decade investigating how students learn and move through their education using large data sets and machine learning. My work has examined how students engage MOOCs and online course materials (namely video lectures), building software to produce reporting applications for surveys, and modeling how students change their majors. Currently I'm working on models to predict time to graduation. I am also interested in how statistical tools are used in research communities and in addition to my research in the area built workshops in programming and machine learning, undergrad internship programs, and taught courses to that effect.
