EarthFlow: Competition and Diversity in biological systems
Kim Sneppen (Niels Bohr Institute, Univ of Copenhagen) will give a talk in relation with the EarthFlow project, but addressed to a broad audience.
Kim Sneppen is Professor at the Niels Bohr Institute, Univ of Copenhagen and Director for Center for Models of Life (see http://www.cmol.nbi.dk) - a Danish Center of Excellence. Kim is a leading Danish physicist and became famous already in the early 90s though his collaboration with Per Bak, leading to the Bak-Sneppen model which is a simple model of co-evolution between interacting species. It was developed to show how self-organize criticality may explain key features of the fossil record.
