Environmentally friendly cement from Røros
Recent findings on the formation of natural, environmentally friendly cement have been featured on geoforskning.no, a geoscientific popular science online newspaper.

The cement industry is a large source of CO2. Carbon-free alternatives are therefore highly sought after. In Røros, PhD student Lisa de Ruiter and professor Håkon Austrheim found a natural cement consisting of magnesium silicate. Understanding how this type of cement formed might help in finding environmentally friendly alternatives to the cement currently used in industry.
