Understanding electron density measurements made by the BRIK-II satellite

The Dutch BRIK-II satellite was launched in Juli 2021, and has since been measuring the electron density along its orbit. In this project these measurements will be analyzed, in particular the impact of the small satellite platform.

In Juli 2021, the Dutch nano-satellite BRIK-II was launched into a circular orbit around Earth. BRIK-II is equipped with a scintillation monitor, measuring the electron density along its trajectory at unprecedented spatial resolution. In addition, the platform is equipped with an electron gun designed to control the satellite's floating potential. The objective of this project is to study the impact of the small satellite size on the instrument performance, in particular when coupled with operations of the electron gun.
