This Hammer Talks Session is given by Grace Shephard, CEED/GEO, University of Oslo, who will present her talk entitled:

From the surface to deep and back again: Introducing the POLARIS project.

Grace will talk about her experience in applying for the prestigious Young Researcher Talent grant from NFR and about the project itself.

About the Polaris project:

POLARIS: Evolution of the Arctic in deep time

The rocks of the high Arctic record a rich, and at times explosive, geological history. Over the last 400 Million years the region has seen the opening and closure of oceans, collision of landmasses, and eruption of massive volcanism. Understanding this requires a perspective of deep time but also deep Earth processes (plus funding for a job). Recent awardee of a NFR Young Researcher Talent, Grace Shephard (CEED/GEO), will share more about her geodynamics-focussed project "POLARIS: Evolution of the Arctic in deep time". Additionally, she will share with us how she experienced the application process for this prestigious grant.

NB! The session is only possible to participate digitally via videolink
