Academic interests

Peter is taking a PhD in Ecological Climatology and Distribution Modelling, which is done in collaboration with NHM and MetOs in the LATICE project. His role is to map and model distributions of selected vegetation types and improve their parametrizations in the vegetation modules of the climate models.

In addition he is interested in applied ecology, alpine plant ecology and GIS modelling.

Background

Peter graduated with an MSc in Ecology and Environmental Sustainability (2013-14), University of Aberdeen. He holds a BSc in Nature Protection and Landscape Management (2010-13), University of Zilina, Slovakia. As part of his education, he took an exchange year at Telemark University College, where he participated in an Alpine Ecology study program.

He has been volunteering for RSPB (Royal Society for Protection of Birds) and collaborating with SSE (Scottish and Southern Energy) during his master’s  project, where he helped to develop and put into practice a novel methodology for estimating height of birds’ flight in respect to wind turbines.
