Statistical prediction of landforms

Landform distribution, and also distribution of important topographical settings like source areas of land slide, are depending on environmental parameters including topography. Recently, new statistical methods are developed to estimate the occurrence of an object or a certain process domain based on statistical probabilities, evaluated through general linear models.

These are innovative methods, important both for applied work (geohazard research) and basic research for identifying topographic constraints for certain earth surface processes to happen and thus landforms to develop.
