Satellite radar image time series for detection of surface changes related to hydrology and geohazards

The new European radar satellite constellation Sentinel-1 produces new radar images every 6 days, over Norway and worldwide. Such radar images are particularly sensitive to surface changes related to water and surface roughness, such as floods, debris flows, avalanches or snow melt.

The purpose of the thesis is to develop and evaluate (automatic) time series analyses based on dense Sentinel-1 data in order to detect and describe events such as the ones named above.
