Diurnal temperature on the interstellar object ‘Oumuamua'

It is suspected that the first known interstellar object ‘Oumuamua is a fractal with very high porosity (> 90%). It is of interest to see how the object responds to solar heating. The student would solve the heat diffusion equation to calculate the day and night time temperature, as well as the temperature profile into the object.

The student will learn how to solve the heat diffusion equation, as well as learn about the thermal properties of porous bodies, which are prevalent in the solar system.
