Sediment petrography and reservoir characterization of volcaniclastic North Sea reservoirs

In the North Sea reservoirs of volcaniclastic sandstones are apparent in some areas. Their porosity and permeability characterization, and petrographical composition will be the main topic of this thesis.

In the project the siliciclastic sediments and volcanic clasts, in particular, will be analyzed in order to better understand the processes of particle formation and diagenetic history. This will form the base for outlining their porosity (?and permability) developments through time.

The samples are in-house so this is a 100% laboratory thesis focusing on standard petrographical laboratory techniques such as optical studies of thin sections, X-ray diffraction analysis, SEM and EMP analysis.

More information will come.
