Cell Signaling and Cancer - Saatcioglu

Our research focuses on the molecular mechanisms by which hormones, in particular the male hormone testosterone, regulate intracellular signaling events resulting in cellular responses. We are studying how disruption in these events, especially in prostate cancer cells, have disease promotion effects. A particular research focus is endoplasmic reticulum stress signaling and how it is linked to hormone signaling and cancer.

Welcome to the Saatcioglu lab

We use molecular, biochemical, cell biological, genetic, and bioinformatic approaches, including preclinical and clinical materials and data sets, to determine how inappropriate regulation of cell signaling contributes to tumor progression and treatment resistance. With this information at hand, we aim to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for cancer, one of the greatest global threats to human health.
