We gathered all the EVOGENE master students for pizza and with this we got to introduce all the new EVOGENE master students with the rest of the group. Good luck with starting your master projects, and for some of you, good luck with finishing you master thesis'.

Saturday May 7th is the day for the big relay run Holmenkollstafetten. Evogene will have a fierce 15 member team and hopefully a group of energetic cheerleaders. Save the date and join in for a run or for the cheering. See you there!

The section will fund 20.000 NOK annually to support external invited speakers and this will ideally cover travel cost for 6-7 speakers.

The criteria for support is to demonstrate stimulation of synergy in the section.

We are starting a new journal club "The (protist) parasite journal club". In this journal club (which will run every Friday at 10.15) we will present and discuss papers about a new (and exciting) group of parasites each week.

The latest addition to courses associated with EvoGene is the course Evolutionary Developmental Biology and Macroevolution, which both master and PhD students can sign up for (BIO4280/9280).

Two lovely days in March the new section for Genetics and Evolutionary Biology (EvoGene) went to the UiO research station in Drøbak to kick-off their activity. The major aim was that the participants get to know each other better, but the agenda was also packed with activities such as scientific presentations and group work to define the major aims and actions for the new section.
