Renate Alling

Academic interests

Throughout my studies I have developed an interest in plant sciences, specifically within genetics, phylogeny and evolution. During my masters I investigated the evolution of the INFLORESCENCE DEFICIENT IN ABSCISSION (IDA) gene family using the plant model species Arabidopsis thaliana, in addition to elucidating the function of IDA-LIKE 1. For my doctoral fellowship I will work on post-zygotic hybridization barriers, with an emphasis on the variable epigenetic regulation during seed development in different species and its effect on hybrid embryos.
