Venue and accommodation

This year we will have a "compact meeting"; at Holmenkollen Park Hotel Rica, a large hotel which accommodates all participants in a beautiful location that is remote enough to gather people around the clock, yet only 25min from Oslo city centre.

Holmenkollen Park Hotel Rica is a beautiful hotel that combines Norwegian character and environment with internationally high standard conference facilities. The oldest part of the hotel, dating back to 1894, is a worthy architectural sight, with its restaurant, meeting-lounge and banqueting facilities. The hotel was built in the Norwegian "dragon" style and was originally meant to serve as a sanatorium.

The hotel is secluded from the busy life of the big city, towering majestically as a natural gateway to the Nordmarka forest and its many ski and bike trails, including attractions such as the Holmenkollen ski jump, the ski museum and Holmenkollen Chapel. Oslo is known for its green surroundings and many hiking opportunities, and the meeting venue is a natural starting point for exciting experiences.

Holmenkollen Park

Within a stone's throw away from the hotel, you will find the Holmenkollen Ski Jump, the Ski Museum and the beautiful Holmenkollen Chapel. The Ski Museum situated just a few hundred meters from the hotel, was opened in 1923 and is the world's oldest ski museum. The exhibitions include equipment from Fridtjof Nansen's and Roald Amundsen's arctic expeditions.

Of all the activities and attractions, the Holmenkollen ski jump is the jewel in the Holmenkollen Park. More than 100 years old and rebuilt 14 times, it stands today as a modern ski arena with a stunning view over the capital. The ski jump recently got its new tower to meet the FIS requirements before the Ski World Cup 2011. With large spotlights placed on the top of the jump tower, it is a spectacular view that can be seen from all over the capital.

Oslo Summer Park

Other activities in the nearest surroundings you can find in the Oslo Summer Park. Here you can do downhill cycling, climbing, aerial ropes course and 900 metres of various zip lines. This will really get your heart going and challenge your mental and physical capabilities.

Hotel Spa and Gym

The hotel itself also has a spa, gym and swimming pool which will be available to conference participants, as well as bicycles for those who would like to explore the nearby surroundings.

Norwegian Constitution Day 17th May

It is the Norwegian Constitution Day on Saturday 17th May, an excellent opportunity to see Oslo celebrate a most joyful occasion with street parades and music, so we would heartily recommend coming to Oslo early if you can!
