We promise you. Is is seldom boring to be a space student at ITS!

Last semester, the current Space Systems Master class visited Andøya as part of their project class, named, "Space Systems Project", where the students launched their balloon missions that they had been working on for the entire semester.

– The students successfully launched and gathered data from both COSMOS and HOTPANTS weather balloons, targeting muon detection and thermal insulation characterisation, respectively. It was an intense, fun, and very engaging experience for them, says Associate Professor, Anja Kohfeldt (UiO/CENSSS).

Another highlight of the Andøya visit, was a trip to the Andøya Space Port in Nordmela.  – We were accompanied by Payload Specialist Kjersti Baardvik Bragstad from Andøya Spaceport who showed us around and shared experiences from her work at Andøya. Thank you, Kjersti for the insights, it was truly inspiring, Kohfeldt says.

– We also want to thank our partners at Andøya Space Education for making these kind of field trips and student missions possible, especially José, Truls and Marcos. We will come back!

A new semester has started, and the department is happy to have welcomed a new class of Space Systems students.

– We are all very excited and are looking forward to new adventures!
