Academic interests
Lorenzo's research focuses on statistics and logic, specifically exploring preference learning and the challenges posed by inconsistent data within this framework. He employs a Bayesian approach to enhance the interpretation and analysis of statistical models. His broader academic interests extend to machine learning, stochastic calculus, and time series analysis, with a particular drive toward applications in finance and energy.
PhD project
Modeling inconsistencies: a joint statistical learning and logical reasoning framework.
This project aims to develop innovative methods for addressing inconsistencies across various contexts, especially those present in input data. Achieving this objective involves integrating statistical modeling with logical reasoning. While the initial focus is on preference learning, there is an intention to expand the project's scope in the future.
Background
Lorenzo earned his Master's degree in Mathematics from the University of Trento in 2024, with a thesis titled Bayesian Nonparametric Clustering for Preference Learning, completed in collaboration with OCBE. He also gained industry experience working as a Data Scientist, focusing on anti-money laundering solutions.
