Title: Discrete nonlinear population models

Abstract: In this talk we shall present results from studies of discrete nonlinear ( density dependent ) population models. Such models cover species with a wide range of different life histories and as it will become clear, it is also easy to include other factors like predation, harvest and migration into the models. We start the presentation by giving a short historical background of the field. Then, focus will be on bifurcation analysis before we turn to lots of fascinating examples of possible nonstationary and chaotic dynamical outcomes from nonlinear models. We shall also address the question of aggregation.
