Abstract:
After discussing how to extend algebraic K-theory to new contexts last week, most notably to stable ∞-categories, we now aim at explaining the universality of K-theory, how it fits into the framework of additive and (Karoubi)-localizing invariants, as well as understanding problems (and recent developments) related to excision for algebraic K-theory. This will be the second of two talks where we study 1) algebraic K-theory and ∞-categories, and 2) the universality of K-theory and how K-theory and so-called localizing invariants behave with respect to pullbacks and pushouts.
