Abstract:
Rational homotopy theory is a story of success in algebraic topology, as we can study the non-torsion part of the homotopy theory of spaces and give purely algebraic criteria for when spaces are rationally equivalent. We will give a (unformal) survey of rational homotopy theory and the main connections to so-called Sullivan models. Our focus will be mostly on getting an overview of the field and finding explicit examples of the stated theorems.
